Noah Palmer’s life is rooted in the vast, open spaces of Northwestern Montana. For 18 years, he worked as a professional chef, pouring dedication and passion into his craft. But in October 2023, Noah’s world changed—he lost his vision.

Despite this, Noah’s spirit remains unbroken. Today, he continues to live fully as an outdoor enthusiast, fly fisherman, farmer, and rancher, guided by values of honesty, integrity, and hard work.

Noah describes his disability plainly: “I am totally blind, I also have a condition called Charles Bonnet Syndrome where I am essentially hallucinating 24 hours a day.”

This experience is not easy, but Noah faces it head-on. One of the hardest parts about vision loss for him has been losing the ability to connect visually with others. “I miss looking people in the eyes,” he said.

Looking for ways to reconnect, Noah sought new tools to help him navigate his environment. He explains: “I’ve been looking for new ways to get more information from my environment… I miss looking people in the eyes and reading faces/rooms more than I thought I would and this device seemed like a promising way to get more information about the world.”

Then comes ALeye, Noah shared: “This wearable is great for understanding the emotions of people around you,”

His honest feedback reflects a thoughtful approach to assistive technology. Looking ahead, he imagines integrating such devices with other solutions: “I think this device has a very promising future... 10/10 would recommend.”

Noah’s journey is a testament to resilience and adaptability. He exemplifies how losing one sense doesn’t mean losing connection—to nature, to people, or to life’s many experiences. His story reminds us all of the importance of listening to real voices and understanding the diverse ways people navigate the world.
