Our Mission

Empowering confidence, autonomy, and inclusion through innovative assistive technology.

HapWare’s mission is to enhance lives by providing individuals who are blind, low-vision, deaf-blindautistic, on the spectrum, and many more with access to nonverbal communication cues. Through our assistive technology, we enable users to navigate social, professional, and educational environments with greater confidence, independence, and autonomy.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every person—regardless of ability—can participate fully, confidently, and equally in all aspects of life.

In our future, inclusion isn’t an accommodation—it’s the norm. The individuals we serve already navigate the world with resilience, insight, and independence. Our vision is a future where society rises to meet that strength—where technology amplifies autonomy, fosters connection, and helps create a world that works better for everyone.

Diversity Statement

HapWare exists to serve individuals who are blind, low-vision, deaf-blind, autistic, and on the spectrum—because access to communication is a right, not a privilege. Our products are built to support confidence, autonomy, and connection for those navigating a world not always designed with them in mind. Guided by the principle “Nothing about us without us,” we are committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Our Purpose

Equal access.

At HapWare, we believe that access to nonverbal communication cues is a fundamental human right—not a privilege. We aim to break down the invisible barriers that prevent millions from feeling included, seen, and heard. By translating body language, facial expressions, and hand gestures into tactile feedback, we are bridging the communication gap, empowering users to be engage in any social environment.

Our Story

ALeye began as a senior design project powered by a government grant and a simple idea: help people access nonverbal communication through haptics. The first prototype recognized just three emotions—happy, angry, and neutral—but it was enough to prove the concept.

Driven by user feedback, ALeye evolved fast. We improved comfort, expanded recognition to gestures and body language, and enhanced the AI for real-time interpretation.

Our approach is rooted in “Nothing about us without us.” Our CTO, Dr. Bryan Duarte, is blind and brings vital lived experience to every design decision.

Now in scaled beta testing, ALeye is showing real impact across classrooms, workplaces, and daily life. We’re building toward launch—with a mission to make connection, confidence, and autonomy accessible to all.
